Garbage Collection Rate Increase

Effective 2/01/2026, there will be a $5.49 monthly increase ($5.00 + $0.49 tax) for Garbage Collection Services for Starbuck residents. The Starbuck City Council approved this increase at their 2/09/26 Regular Meeting following communication with West Central Sanitation.

West Central Sanitation (WCS) proposed a $5 monthly increase for all Garbage Services due to increased disposal, fuel and operating costs. Inflation and consumer costs, CPI, alone have increased 39% since 2011, so this is a necessary increase for WCS to remain sustainable & better serve the City. The City of Starbuck has not seen an increase in garbage collection rates since 2011.

Residents will see this increase implemented on their March Utility Bills (due on 3/15/2026).

    New Monthly Garbage Collection Rates: (effective 2/01/2026)

        - 35 Gallon Cart - $20.27

        - 64 Gallon Cart - $22.50

        - 96 Gallon Cart - $24.59
